On Friday, August 17, 30 exceptional businesswomen were recognized at the 13th annual Women in Business Legislative Update and Awards luncheon. I am overjoyed that among this year’s honorees was my relative and dear friend Emma Garabetian, who will deservedly receive the Outstanding Small Businesswoman Award.

This annual event was hosted by State Senator Carol Liu, and Assembly Members Mike Gatto and Anthony Portantino.

Emma Garabetian is a familiar and beloved name in our community. Many may know her as the provider of uniforms to our Armenian Schools. However there is much more to her story. She began with one humble store, and worked hard to build her company from the ground up. Presently, Modella Uniforms has two retail stores, in La Crescenta and Pasadena, with a third location opening soon in the San Fernando Valley.

The success of Modella Uniforms is due solely to the unwavering efforts of its owner. Emma is an enterprising woman who has worked very hard to achieve success in her professional life. What is more impressive is that Emma has always used her success to give back to the Armenian and local community. In all her endeavors she brings pride to the Armenian community, and strives to ensure that our community is always represented in a good light.

We thank State Senator Carol Liu, Assembly Members Mike Gatto and Anthony Portantino, and Kristi Lopez at Assembly Member Portantino’s office for recognizing Emma’s achievements.

Emma, congratulations once again. You are truly deserving of this honor. I wish you countless years of success in all aspects of your life.
