During the past several months consultative meetings between the Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles and representatives of the three national political parties have become commonplace.
These meetings which are being attended by Consul General Armen Melkonian–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee representative Viken Hovsepian–Social-Democratic Hunchakian Party Western US Executive chairperson Diran Djeredjian and Armenian Democratic League Western US chairperson Vartan Nazirian–aim at creating agreement over national and community issues of concern. Furthermore–these meetings also attempt to bring together the community’s human resources in order to further cooperation–promote mutual understanding–create unity–encourage cooperation with the homeland–assist the Consulate in the realization of its projects and address various pressing issues.
In order to formalize cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia–as well as to provide a concrete character for the aforementioned efforts–an advisory body affiliated with the Consulate has been created with the participation of the leaders of the Western Region bodies of the three national political parties. The body will meet at least once a month.
