YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–As of 3 p.m.–the State Prosecutor’s Office has launched criminal investigations for three reported violations of law during the Monday election.
The first case involves an attack launched by a group of unidentified people at polling station 1/5 (Achapnian district)–at around 5 p.m. The group of unidentified people –attacked Central Electoral Commission members and candidates’ representatives–and deposited 346 marked ballots into the ballot box. The investigation on counts 133 and 134 is being conducted by the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The second case is a result of a written complaint submitted by presidential candidate representative Marineh Ohanian and Margarita Azarian–National Democratic Union representative to the CEC. The complaint suggested that on March 16–at 10 am–a man around the age of 60–was seen trying to cast 21 marked ballots at polling station 7/10 of the Malatia-Sebastia district. An official report has been submitted to the CEC–and a criminal investigation was launched on count 133–subcount 1.
A criminal case against a district election commission member–Poghikian–has been instituted on the same count. Poghikian attempted to hand out marked ballots at polling station 6/9 in Noragiugh. When arrested–he was holding 99 ballots.
Subcount 1 of count 133 provides for penalty or up to a year in prison; counts 133 and 134 can give up to three years in prison.
