YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolay Bordyuzha declared Friday that the "Frontier-2008" military exercises in Armenia to be conducting this spring are in no way directed against Azerbaijan.
"By taking the decision on the conduct of the military exercises, we certainly take into consideration the whole complexity of the situation in the Caucasus, and we have applied all efforts to make Azerbaijan understand that these exercises are not directed against it," Bordyuzha told a press conference in Moscow.
"I don’t think that Azerbaijan will negatively react to the conduct of the military exercises. Certainly, ‘Frontier-2008’ is not targeted at further sharpening the complex situation," the CSTO Secretary General said. He added that any state has the right to hold arrangemen’s on its territory directed at ensuring the country’s security.
Bordyuzha noted that observers from different countries will be invited to the military exercises.
