YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The subject of pride of Armenia – the Yerevan Brandy Company is in reliable hands–and today there are more guarantees that the Armenian cognac will keep its quality and improve from year to year–which will enable this product to extend to new markets," Prime Minister Armen Darbinian said during the ceremony of signing a deal on the sale of 100 percent of shares of the Yerevan Brandy Company to the French Pernod Ricard Group.
According to Darbinian–the government of Armenia has made sure that it deals with a serious company. The prime minister expressed confidence that there are all necessary preconditions for increasing cognac sales not only on traditional CIS markets but also in the West. Darbinian vowed the government assistance to "Pernod Ricard" in turning the Armenian cognac into an international beverage.
"Pernod Ricard" Group Director General Thierry Jacquillat said the high quality of the Armenian cognac is the key to success.
