YEREVAN (Azg daily–Noyan Tapan)–Head of Yerevan’s Construction Department announced Wednesday that of a 400 million drams earmark for the construction of the Davidashen bridge in Yerevan in 1996–only $60 million drams has actually been allocated. The 500 million drams earmarked for this year has not yet been paid.
Stepan Ordukhanian said that about 3.3 billion drams was needed to complete the bridge construction–explaining that even if these funds were allocated–the construction would last up to six years.
As a result of these delays–already installed metal-concrete construction had been damaged–further increasing construction costs–Ordukhanian explained.
Construction of the bridge–which would connect Yeghvard to Yerevan in the shortest distance–began in 1987.
