YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A delegation led by Brazilian-Armenian businessman Varuzhan Burmayan is visiting Armenia in an effort to raise trade and economic relations between Armenia and Brazil to the highest possible level.
The delegation–which also includes high-ranking diplomats–economists and businessmen–was encouraged by the Brazilian authorities–in particular by President Carduzo.
On August 17–the delegation was welcomed by Minister-Coordinator of Industrial Infrastructure Activities David Zadoyan. Varuzhan Burmayan–representing Brazil–said that Armenia may be able to help get Brazilian goods into the CIS and Asian markets.
The issues discussed between the two include–the lack of economic-legal documen’s regulating trade and economic links between the two countries–participation of Brazilian investors in the processes of privatization in Armenia–and boosting cooperation between manufacturers and business communities of the two countries.
The sides reportedly emphasized that the Armenian community of Brazil will considerably facilitate solutions to the aforementioned problems.
The visit of the high-ranking delegation is evidence of the confidence the Brazilian government has on these individuals–and it is also evidence of the aspirations of Brazilian Armenia’s to return to their roots and deepen their ties with their historical homeland.
Burmanian stressed the role of the Armenian army of uniting the entire Diaspora and invited Armenia’s defense minister to visit Brazil as a member of the president’s delegation.
