YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Executive Director of the Armenpress state-run news agency Mesrop Haroutiunian resigned. I resigned because the staff of the news agency have not received their salaries for the last three months–Haroutiunian said at a meeting held August 13–adding that it was his fault.
It should be noted that 100 percent of Armenpress’s shares are held by the government–and the staff members are paid directly from the state budget.
The resignation was submitted to the Board of Shareholders of the Armenpress news agency. Mesrop Haroutiunian sent a letter to Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan asking for permission to resign from the Board of Shareholders.
