YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prominent Canadian-Armenian filmmaker Atom Egoyan Friday arrived in Armenia–where he held a meeting with Armenia’s Minister of Culture–Youth and Sport Roland Sharoyan.
The minister of culture awarded Egoyan with a special momento pledged the Armenian government’s continuous support for the projects of the talented director. However–during the meeting Egoyan refrained from answering questions and made no commen’s regarding his upcoming movie Ararat–given recent discussions over the film.

Although the shooting of the film is not finished yet–the film has raised tensions worldwide–particularly in Turkey–since the subject of the movie deals with the Armenian Genocide. The cast includes famous French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour–Egoyan’s wife Arsine Khanjian–David Albert and others.
According to the French media–Ararat is a film within a film. The movie rights have been already bought by France–England–Germany and Spain and it is expected to be presented in several festivals worldwide. Miramax has optioned the film’s distribution rights in the US.
