YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The preparatory stage of the commercialization of the gas and power sectors of Armenia was completed Wednesday.
The programs are sponsored by US Agency for International Development and implemented by the American Hagler Bailly energy consulting company.
The implementation stage is scheduled to start in the near future–project manager of the Hagler Bailly’s office to Armenia–Armen Arzoumanian said.
According to him–Hagler Bailly’s experts compiled a list of equipment needed for implementing the program. Arzoumanian said that the implementation of both programs requires additional funds. For example–individual gas counters have never been used in the Republic’s gas sector. The gas will be supplied to the population (following the project–it is planned to supply gas to 6 villages in the Kotayk region and Yerevan’s Noubarashen district–totally some 3,000 consumers) only after the individual gas counters are installed.
The technical specification of the gas counters and the technical documentation for an international standard on the supply of gas counters has been prepared.
Some of the electric counters have been sent to the States to test their quality. According to him–the results of these tests will enable them to find out the conditions of the measuring equipment used in Armenia.
According to Arzoumanian–it is planned to organize an international standard of electric and gas counters as well.
A computer program on the estimation of consumption and paymen’s has been worked out to strengthen the financial discipline of consumers and distributors.
