YEREVAN (Yerkir Media)–The president of the Young European Socialists (ECOSY) traveled to Yerevan last week for a three-day visit to discuss cooperation with youth organizations of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the ARF Youth Office reported.
Petrula Nteledimun met with members and leaders of the Armenian Youth Federation and the ARF Nigol Aghbalian Student Union to discuss cooperation between the two organizations.
Founded in the Netherlands in 1992, ECOSY is the youth organization of the European Socialist Party, uniting Socialist and Social-Democratic youth associations and movements in the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and Mediterranean.
During her meetings with the AYF, Nteledinum, herself a member of the Greek ruling PASOK party, discussed European socio-economic issues, centering around education, employment and health. She also spoke about the political climate in Europe, the economic crisis facing Greece and other EU member states, and the challenges facing Social-Democratic political parties in Europe. AYF delegates, for their part, discussed social, economic and political issues facing youth in Armenia.
Nteledinum also met with Socialist International Vice President, Maria Titizyan, ARF Bureau Youth Office Director Sarkis Mkrtchian, as well as the ARF’s representatives to the Socialist International Youth.
She also visited the Dzidzernagapert Armenian Genocide Memorial, the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church at Echmiadzin and the National Museum of History and Modern Art.
