YEREVAN–The Armenian Revolutionary Federation youth and student organizations held their fifth representative meeting–during the past week–in Yerevan. Present were delegates from the Middle East–Europe and the Americas.
The assembled representatives discussed among other things–the role of the youth in strengthening Armenia’s and Karabakh’s statehood–the pursuit of the Armenian Cause–the preservation of Armenian values in the Diaspora–as well as organization and structural issues.
The delegates also had an opportunity to discuss these issues with a host of ministers–including Armenia’s minister of Education–and the Minister of Cultural–Youth and Sports Issues. They also met with other youth organizations and representatives of social and cultural bodies.
The assembly released a declaration–the translated text of which appears below–
We–the ARF youth of Armenia and the Diaspora–following those principles which will influence the homeland’s political and social existence–declare that: 1) for the sake of strengthening Armenia-Karabakh-Diaspora relation–we shall assist in solidifying the statehood of Armenia and Karabakh–as well as in preserving the Armenian identity in the Diaspora; 2) we shall work toward the political awareness of our youth–in the name of democracy–social justice and human rights 3) we will work toward increasing the role of the youth in the pursuit of the Armenian Cause in the international forum–through educational and promotional means; 4) we will pursue the adoption of laws in Armenia that will benefit the youth of Armenia through political enlightenment–as well as through social security; Although obstacles remain in pursuing these goals–the ARF youth is determined that through unity and continuous struggle–the above mentioned goals will be reached.
