YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The fifth "Sept. 25" judicial proceedings began Tuesday in the Supreme Court of Armenia.
Defendant Arsen Yeghiazarian charged with participation in mass disturbances pleaded not guilty. He said that on Sept. 25–he appeared at the National Assembly building by chance and witnessed the crowd beat Parliament Chairman Babken Ararktsian. Yeghiazarian said that he tried to defend Ararktsian and that is why during the investigation he had repeatedly demanded to speak with Ararktsian to clear up the matter. His requests were not met.
Yeghiazarian alleged that Ararktsian’s testimonies could serve as a basis for dissmissal of the case against him. The defendant demanded that the investigating agents arrange for a meeting between him and Ararktsian.
