YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An overcrowded coach plying between the village of Gogavan and the town of Vanadzor had an accident during its regular run on Friday–as the driver lost control of the vehicle and let it fall into an abyss from a height of 20-25 meters–the Interior Ministry’s Public Relations Department told Noyan Tapan.
Five people died in the crash–including three women and two men–with another 38 people injured. All people who suffered in the road accident were rushed to the nearby hospitals of Spitak and Vanadzor.
A criminal case was instituted in connection with the fact. Investigators have already established that the bus carried 43 passengers instead of 21 required by the safety rules and was set into a free-running regime shortly before the accident occurred. The man who was sitting behind the wheel of the ill-starred vehicle is said to have a 28-year experience in driving. Officials confirmed he wasn’t in a state of alcohol intoxication while operating the ill-fated run.
