YEREVAN (Azg/Respublica Armenia)–According to a report by the Russian Mayak radio on Wednesday–the cultural attache of the French Embassy in Lithuania–Patric Donabedian who formerly held the same position in the French Embassy in Yerevan–was assaulted in the central part of Vilnius.
The assailants mugged and beat Donabedian at 4 p.m. on Sunday and stole his wallet. The diplomat was rushed to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition and underwent surgery.
Chief of the Vilnius police–Vitautas Leypus declared that he feels responsible for the damage caused to the prestige of Lithuania and resigned. The Minister of Interior accepted his resignation.
Police reported that four suspects have already been arrested–one admitted attacking the diplomat.
