YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–On his way back from the Yalta summit of CIS heads of government–Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargssian told reporters that Armenia was expecting four Mig-29 fighterplanes. Some conversation also turned to the deployment of C-300B anti-aircraft and missile systems.
The latest Mig-29 aircraft are to upgrade the squadron of the group of Russian troops in Armenia–Armenian Defense Ministry officials said. This modernization of the group will end with the arrival of these four planes set for mid-October.
The C-300B anti-aircraft and missile systems will be deployed in Armenia as part of the program of CIS military cooperation. Armenia is one of the six CIS countries bound by the Collective Security Treaty.
