YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The presidential council of the French Senate decided Thursday that it would not discuss a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
The foreign ministry press service announced that the council–by a majority vote–decided not to address the Genocide bill.
The French left coalition–under the leadership of foreign minister Hubert Vedrine–has said that the bill was not a priority for the French Senate agenda. Despite this–however–French leftist parties have voted in favor of the resolution–with a the right-wing coalition backing the government’s approach.
