Representatives of Karekin II–Catholicos of Armenia and of All Armenia’s–and Catholicos Aram I of the Holy See of Cilicia met Tuesday to discuss future plans and the forming of commissions. The theme of this latest meeting was the imperative reform of the Armenian Church.
The two delegations had also met last year to discuss cooperation between the two churches.
The delegation representing His Holiness Karekin II included–Archbishop Khajag Barsamian–Bishop Mikhail Achabahian–Raphael Babayan–and James Kalousdian.
The Cilicia delegation included Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan–Bishop Nareg Aliyemezian–Yervant Pamboukian–Arsen Tanielian–and Father Vahram Melikian.
The two delegations also met with Karekin II–who advised them and gave them his blessing. Archbishop Choloyan–on behalf of His Holiness Aram I–blessed the group and wished them success.
After the Lord’s Prayer–the meeting’s participants developed strategies for the upcoming year–within the framework established during their first meeting. They discussed the number of commissions that are to be organized and the themes that they will concentrate on. The meeting ended successfully and participants seemed very optimistic about the future of the Armenian church.
After the meeting–the members of the commission reported their findings to Karekin II and Aram I and asked them for guidance in the tasks that lay ahead. Both delegations felt that the meeting will help increase cooperation and strengthen the Armenian Church.
