GLENDALE–A committee comprised of representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US–Central Committee–the Social-Democratic Hunchakian Party Western US Executive Body and the Armenian Democratic League US Regional Executive issued an announcement this week detailing the activities planned for community-wide commemorations of the 85th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Aside from urging the community to come together and commemorate this event in a united fashion–the announcement makes note of the recent rejection by the French Senate to consider a Genocide recognition resolution. The announcement cites the French Senate issue as an example of the denial campaign launched by the Turkish government–the descendent of the Ottoman Empire which perpetrated the Armenian Genocide.
"Today–more than ever–the Armenian people–and the Armenian-American community specifically–face the imperative of pursuing the recognition of the Armenian Genocide," reads the announcement.
"In Los Angeles… the Social-Democratic Hunchakian party–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the Armenian Democratic League (Ramkavar party)–together have created a Central Body–which through upcoming announcemen’s will convey to the public its projected plans," informed the announcement.
The three parties urged the Armenian-American community in the Southland to come together–and in unison–commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
