WATERTOWN–Members of Congress will join the Armenian-American community in a Congressional Observance on Capitol Hill marking the 83rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish government. The Congressional Observance–co-hosted by US Representatives Joe Knollenberg (R-Mich.)–David Bonior (D-Mich.)–Frank Pallone (D-NJ)–and George Radanovich (R-Calif.)–and sponsored by the Armenian National Committee (ANC)–will take place on Wednesday–April 22–in the United States Capitol (Room HC-5). The observance will begin at 5:30 pm.
The Congressional Observance will allow Armenian-Americans the opportunity to pay tribute to those members of Congress who have been supportive of initiatives to recognize and commemorate the Armenian Genocide. This year’s co-hosts have consistently supported Congressional initiatives of concern to the Armenian American community.
Attending the Genocide Observance–in addition to members of Congress–will be survivors of the Armenian Genocide–representatives of the Clinton Administration–leaders of human rights organizations–and members of the Armenian-American community.
