YEREVAN (Armenpress/Noyan Tapan)–A delegation led by the President of Nagorno-Karabagh Arkady Ghoukassian left for France yesterday on a three-day visit to participate in a telethon there to raise funds for continued construction of the North-South highway in Nagorno Karabagh.
From France the delegation will depart for the US to conduct similar telethons.
The Hayastan All-Armenia Fund announced that it will hold a number of telethons to benefit the completion of the South-North highway in Nagorno Karabagh.
The telethon in France will be held November 14-17 and in New York and in communities across the East coast of the US–on November 18-28.
A telethon will take place in Los Angeles on November 28. The first five hours of the twelve-hour telethon be shown live on Armenian Public Television.
Those who wish to assist can contact the organizers via the Internet: www.armeniafund.org. or www.himnadram.org.
The inauguration of another section of the highway was held last Sunday. The new 9.7 kilometer long section between Dashbulagh and Balucha villages connects the capital Stepanakert with the 20 kilometer long Dashbulagh-Kichan road built last year. The length of the highway running from Stepanakert to the north is already 30 kilometers long; a ten kilometer long road stretches south.
In the two years since the construction of the highway was launched some 40 kilometers of the planned 170 kilometer long highway have already been built.
