GLENDALE–Glendale City Councilmember Gus Gomez and Glendale Unified School District Assistant Superintendent Alice Petrossian will be honored with Community Service awards at the Armenian National Committee Glendale Chapter annual banquet. The banquet will take place on Thursday–June 6 at 7 p.m.
The Community Service Award is given to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the Armenian community of Glendale as well as to the general population of the city. Councilmember Gomez is being recognized for his attention to issues of concern to the Armenian-American community throughout his tenure as Mayor of the City of Glendale.
Assistant Superintendent Petrossian is being recognized for her leadership and achievemen’s in the field of education throughout California and–specifically–for her contributions and service to the Glendale Unified School District.
The ANC Glendale Chapter will also honor youth activist Elen Asatryan with the "Hai Tahd Youth Award."
This award is offered to a college-aged individual in the community who has made significant contributions to the Armenian community of Glendale as well as to the general population of the city.
Asatryan–who will continue her education at UCLA next fall–has dedicated invaluable time and effort to community activities and programs–as well as to local election campaigns.
She is an exemplary student and community volunteer.
"The Glendale ANC wishes to recognize and thank Councilmember Gomez and Assistant Superintendent Petrossian for their outstanding records of community service both in their professional capacity and as citizens of Glendale," said Vahakn Apcarian–who’s on the Event Committee board and is also an ANC Glendale Chapter Executive Board member.
"By recognizing an ANC "Hai Tahd Youth Award" recipient we hope that the youth will be acknowledged for all their hard work and encouraged to follow in the footsteps of these exemplary citizens of Glendale," stated Glendale ANC board member Yerado Abrahamian–"Everyone is invited to join us in celebrating the achievemen’s of these individuals and of our community at large."
The event will be held at Chattanooga Banquet Hall located at 811 East Colorado Street in Glendale.
