YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Chief of Armenian government staff Manuk Topuzian called on the broad circles of the society to improve their basic knowledge about corruption to back the government’s efforts aimed to decrease its volumes.
Topuzian was one of the keynote speakers at a recurrent seminar devoted to fighting rampant corruption in Armenia. Topuzian said that the government that has designed a strategic plan for fighting corruption–expects new ideas and proposals on how to achieve tangible results in struggling against evil–which is believed to be one of the main obstacles for raising the living standards of the population.
"We expect wide circles of the society to become seasoned in the anti-corruption fight–as the government cannot crackdown on it alone," Topuzian said.
The seminar was also attended by senior officials from the World Bank Armenia office and experts from international organizations. The next gathering is set for July 11-12–in which non-governmental organizations are expected to share their views on how to fight corruption.
