YEREVAN (RFE/RL)–Several ministers are likely to lose their jobs as a result of the impending restructuring of Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan’s cabinet–reliable sources close to the authorities told RFE/RL on Wednesday.
The ministers of economy–energy–health and postal service and telecommunications are set to be either replaced or will have their agencies dissolved in a major staff cut–the sources said.
The most famous of them–former prime minister and current Economy Minister Armen Darbinian–is tipped to become Armenia’s representative in the United Nations. His ministry may merge with the ministry of industry and trade.
More than a dozen government departmen’s will be shut down or incorporated into corresponding ministries–according to the sources.
A spokesman for the government–Eduard Militonian–refused to comment on the information.
