YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan on Thursday instructed government officials at all levels to drastically improve the quality of services they provide to the public by creating effective channels of communication with citizens.
According to the prime minister, the government will have to enforce a complex series of measures to realize this goal. He said the number of complaints received by public service offices shows that the authorities do not adequately respond to public concerns.
To resolve this issue he instructed all ministers of his government, heads of other executive agencies, governors, and the Yerevan municipality to adopt, within 10 days, a set of legal acts regarding how they will respond to applications, proposals and complaints from citizens.
They were instructed to organize at least one public issue briefing a month to hear citizens’ concerns. The public at large should be notified about the procedure, the prime minister said.
The prime minister expressed hope that by implementing these instructions, the Armenian authorities will improve the contacts between the government and citizens, help improve the quality of services provided, and raise the level of public trust in the government.
