ATHENS—The Parliament of Greece on Tuesday adopted a bill that criminalizes the denial of the Armenian Genocide and other crimes against humanity.
Greece becomes the third European country after Switzerland and Slovakia to adopt such a measure.
The bill known as “Fight against Xenophobia” envisions bringing criminal charges for denial of the genocides of not only Jews, but also Armenians and Pontus Greeks. The bill stipulates heavy fines and imprisonment terms for individuals who publicly deny genocides and other crimes against humanity that are recognized by the Greek Parliament and international courts.
The vote passed by 54 to 42 with three abstentions.
Thank you to our Greek brothers and sisters!
Despite us dancing to Greek music, I don’t think the average Greek is the slightest interested in anything Armenian !
I don’t think that’s the case. People in Greece have a very positive attitude about Armenians. It might even be one of the most pro-Armenian countries in Europe, on par with France.
Thank you Greece.
I think it is very correct!
Thank you EU member and NATO-allied Greece.
THANK YOU GREECE!
Lelevo se!
**** Thank you Greeks..!!!! way to go.., Armenians and Greeks have a lot in common, we should have more cultural / political and commercial co-operation against the enemy who killed and took our land and churches.and turn them in to mosques., it is sickening.
Finally. Does Armenia have such a law?
Great news but what were the 42 who voted against were thinking?
You are right, who are those 42 AssHls
The vote should have passed by 100%.!
I feel strongly that Greeks and Armenians should be recognized and the country that invaded Constatinopole now Istanbul the Turks Karma will come back to them one day and Istanbul cones back to Greece Amen
With much appreciation of the decision made by the Greek parliament, isn,t true if all the countries adopt such measures in their countries, Genocide will be eliminated of the world?
This is history. Many thanks to the Greek people and government. Victory to All Armenians.
Thank you Greece!
Being 1/2 Greek, 1/4 Armenian and 1/4 Cypriot I have very strong emotions on this subject. Although I assumed and expected a unanimous vote as well, I am still happy and proud. I suppose one exexplanation for the 43 against is that some of them may be MPs from Komotini with Turkish roots.
Bravo Greece rules! Turkey are a bunch of jihadist muslim scum!
Thank you Greek.
Greek and Armenian people are friends and thank you Greece for this law, our cypriot friends should also pass a similar law. I invite other countries in the world who believe in Justice and Human Rights to have the courage of adopting similar law.
