YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President of Greece Constantinos Stephanopoulos was scheduled to arrive in Armenia Tuesday.
The president’s entourage includes–deputy foreign minister Grigori Niotis–deputy economy minister Aleksandros Baltas and other officials.
During the visit the Greek president will meet with his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharian–Catholicos of All Armenia’s Karekin I and chairman of the National Assembly Khosrov Haroutiunian. Also Armeno-Greek broad talks are scheduled to take place. The sides are expected to sign bilateral documen’s.
Stephanopoulos will also take part in the opening of the Greek hall at the library of Yerevan State University. He will be awarded an honorary doctoral degree at the Yerevan State University .
Constantinos Stephanopoulos will also pay a visit to Holy Etchmiadzin and Matenadaran (Museum of Manuscripts) and will lay a wreath at the Didzernagapert memorial monument.
The Greek president will be accompanied by a number of Greek businessmen–who will hold business talks with their Armenian counterparts and visit an industrial exhibition in Armenia.
Stephanopoulos was made an honorary citizen of Georgia on Sunday during a visit to the former Soviet republic.
Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze welcomed Stephanopoulos when he arrived Sunday at the airport in the Georgian capital–Tbilisi–for a three-day visit.
After the symbolic citizenship ceremony–Stephanopoulos was to meet members of Georgia’s Greek community and visit a medical center built with the help of the Greek government–the Interfax news agency reported.
He also met the Georgian parliament speaker and foreign minister.
