On Friday–July 18–the Hamazkayin Armenian Cultural and Educational Society honored Diasporan’soprano Arpine Pehlivanian for her dedication to the world of music and her contribution to the preservation of Armenian musical heritage. Under the presidency of Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian–the auspices of Hamazkayin’s Central Executive and organized by the Hamazkayin Western US regional executive–the tribute took place at Montebello Holy Cross Church’s Toumanjian Hall
Joining the Hamazkayin family to pay tribute to the celebrated soprano were representatives of the three traditional Armenian political parties and cultural organizations–members of the Pehlivanian family–representatives of Armenian media–Pehlivanian’s students–friends and guests.
Kevork Bedigian served as the master of ceremonies for the memorable event; Hamazkayin Western US regional executive chair Vahakn Abkariants–Armen Donoian–Vatche Barsoumian–Hamazkayin Central Executive member Yertvart Missirlian–and Prelate Mardirossian all conveyed congratulatory messages and praise for Pehlivanian’s 40 years of dedication and her many accomplishmen’s.
In celebrating Pehlivanian’s unwavering devotion to Armenian music and songs–Yertvart Missirlian–on behalf of the Hamazkayin family–presented Arpine Pehlivanian with the organization’s gold medallion.
Prelate Mardirossian gave Pehlivanian a certificate of recognition. The program ended with a musical tribute to Arpine Pehlivanian–performed by her daughter–Elizabeth–and Gloria Mikaelian.
