GLENDALE–Following a two-day convention that convened in Glendale, California on March 2, the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society elected a new Western region executive board to represent and coordinate the activities of its chapters and special committees in the area. The 14th Western region convention opened at the ARS Social Services Center in grand fashion. A host of invited guests included its Central Executive Board representative Edward Misserlian, Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, ARF Bureau member Viken Hovsepian, ARF West CC representative Anahid Stepanian, special representative to Armenia’s Consul General in Los Angeles Haroutiune Kochoian, Hamazkayin Eastern US representative Hovagim Manougian, ARS West board member Sona Bostanian, Homenetmen Regional Executive Committee member Maro Keshishian, Armenian American Council on Aging president Hagop Ovayan. After reviewing the activities and performance of the outgoing regional executive during its 29 months of service, the convention handed down commendations as well as recommendations to the incoming board. This included involving younger elemen’s of the community so as to spark creativity and activate chapters. The following members were elected to represent Hamazkayin Western Region’s executive board: Viken Yacoubian (Chairman), Anita Havatian (Secretary), Manoug Choukhadjian (Accountant), Ohan Ohanian (Treasurer), and Tamar Abkarian, Dikran Babigian, Sarkis Berberian to serve as advisors.
