YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The lawyer of National TV’s deputy director Harutiun Harutiunian–who arrested on charges of involvement in October 27 killings–appealed the decision of a Yerevan court to arrest his client.
Lawyer Zhora Khachatrian said that the charges levied on his client are unfounded and there are no grounds to keep him in custody. Khachatrian said that his client is kept in the national security ministry’s isolation cell and so far has not had health problems but is in a depressed state because of the accusations.
Meanwhile–secretary general of the World Organization of Scout Movement Jacques Moreillon sent a letter to president Kocharian related to the detention of Harutiun Harutiunian who was elected honorary chairman of HASK (Armenian National Scout Movement) and chairman of the Eurasia Regional Scout Committee. Moreillon says in his letter that it is in no way to interfere in the internal affairs of Armenia and they wish and trust that the justice will be rendered.
However–he wants president Kocharian to know that the WOSM has full confidence in the integrity and innocence of Harutiun Harutiunian since "they have known him for many years as a true Scout and a loyal citizen."
