YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Hayastan All-Armenia fund has begun implementing a series of new rural development projects in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to an official from the fund, reconstruction began in September on the water supply system of Karabakh’s Berdashen village. The reconstruction project, sponsored by the Hayastan Fund’s Argentina affiliate, envisages the repair of the Berdashen water-mains, its inner water network, and reservoir and pump station. Set to be completed in July 2009, the project will provide Berdashen, a community of around 1,300 located in Karabakh’s Martuni province, with access to a regular supply.
The Fund has also begun construction of a new school in the village of Spitakashen. The project, sponsored by its Toronto affiliate, began after the completion of a water supply project for the village. The Toronto affiliate is also funding the repair of the Apaven village’s water supply system.
Meanwhile, the newly reconstructed Hadrut regional hospital is currently being furnished in preparation of its opening. The project, financed by the Fund’s USA West Coast affiliate, will have the capacity to serve 40 patients and provide ambulance assistance to the regions of Artsakh, Askeran, Martuni and Shushi.
Tenders have also been announced for the construction of health posts in Khnushinak, Machkalashen and Vanadzor village of Hadrut region. The project is jointly funded by the USA West Coast and French affiliates. Chartar village school construction in Martuni region is underway.
“Development of rural communities is crucial for the well-being of our homeland. We do our best to provide all the villages with vital infrastructures,” Ara Vardanyan, acting executive director of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund said.
Along with the projects in Nagorno-Karabakh, Hayastan Fund is carrying out a number of initiatives in Armenia. At present, the French, German and Swiss affiliates of the Fund are jointly financing the renovation of the three-block Khashtarak School in Tavush region. Within the Ditavan administrative building renovation project, sponsored by individual donors from Argentina, the whole building will be fully renovated and furnished.
Renovation of the roof of Nork Infection Hospital first block, financed by the Brazilian affiliate of the Fund, will be complete this November, while the installation of a heating system for the Khachaghbyur village school in Gegharkunik is currently underway.
Tenders have also been announced for the Aknaghbtyur water-supply project and gas supply projects in Khashtarak, Aknaghbyur, Lusahovit, Ditavan communities of Tavush region.
