Carolan family donates $500,000 to the Holy See of Cilicia and the Western Prelacy His Grace Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian–Prelate of Western United States–the Religious and Executive Councils of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America are pleased to announce that the Carolan family has graciously donated half a million dollars to the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia and the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America–in memory of the late benefactor Richard Carolan.
"It is our privilege to take this opportunity to thank the Carolan family for what has become a tradition of long line of generosity in contributing to our religious and national organizations. Last year–we had the misfortune of losing a great philanthropist–a true friend of the Armenian nation–Richard Carolan Sr. We are thankful that the benevolent path established by Richard Carolan Sr. continues to be followed by his wife–Tina who has always been an energetic force at her husband’s side–and his son Richard Jr.–who are bearing the torch of philanthropy accordingly," said Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian.
His Grace the Prelate added that Tina Carolan and Richard Jr. have decided to donate $250,000 to the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia. This donation will be allocated to the Richard Carolan Publication Fund at the Catholicosate (established a few years ago by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia in honor of the Richard Carolan Family)–as well as to a construction plan at the Holy See in Antelias. The remaining $250,000 is being donated to the Prelacy New Building Fund. "It is comforting that Mrs. Tina Carolan and her son Richard are keeping alive the legacy of the late benefactor–thus honoring his will and memory through these generous donations," added Bishop Mardirossian.
The Carolans have continuously contributed to numerous funds of the Holy See and the Western Prelacy–as well as to Armenia–Artsakh and Armenian organizations that pursue the Armenian Cause.
"We pray to Almighty God to bless the memory of Richard Carolan and grant the torch-bearers of his legacy with His benevolence. Similar donations fill our heart with gratitude–for these are true expressions of support to the mission of the Holy See–our Prelacy and all those who strive in pursuit of our common goals," concluded Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian.
