YEREVAN (RFE-RL)–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Executive Council of Armenia representative Vahan Hovanessian told "Yerkir" daily Thursday that Armenia’s government needed to have a smooth transition of power–and that a "balance" between "continuity" and reforms had to be sustained.
"We have some proposals and some negotiations on hold–but the bottom line is that our role should basically amount to determining Armenia’s internal and foreign policy directions," Hovanessian said of the ARF’s role in government.
"The concrete areas in the executive branch should rest with professionals. We should not forget that this is not a coalition government."
Hovannisian said he approved of some of the cabinet appointmen’s but disliked others. He hopes Prime Minister Darbinian–whose appointment he says is a success–"will turn the government into a single mechanism."
