YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian met with De Bifort Winefolds–the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Monterrey–Mexico on March 21.
The Armenian Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Winefolds for supporting Armenia’s positions and interests in the Fund.
The IMF Executive Director expressed concern about Armenia’s transport blockade by Turkey–as well as the proposal to link this problem with the further financing of the country–i.e. to set forth certain deman’s to it.
Minister Margarian called it a step directed at the development of the Armenian economy–and also at the deepening of cooperation among the countries of the region.
According to the Armenian Government’s Information and Public Relations Department–the IMF Executive Director mentioned that he thought that it is his human duty to touch upon this alarming fact at the fund.
He vowed to do his best to contribute to Armenia in the hope of solving its socio-economic problems.
Armenia has been relying on IMF loans and gran’s in order to reorganize the infrastructure of the country.
