Zaruhi Petrosyan

GLENDALE, CA (IanYan)–Online Armenian news publication, IanYan Magazine, published earlier this week an investigative piece on the brutal murder in Armenia of Zaruhi Petrosyan, a 20-year-old mother of two, beaten to death by her husband and mother-in-law over attempts to extort money from her and her family.  IanYan Editor Liana Aghajanian wrote the story, unearthing the troubling details of the police negligence and a culture of domestic violence that lead to Petrosyan’s death. Read the complete report here.

It is pathetic. Is Armenia living in the 21st century or the 17th century? The fault is in the system (the very soft laws in Armenia towards Domestic Violence) that is allowinging these things to happen. Domestic Violence must be a number one law in Armenia and they must sentence the husband and the mother-in-law of Zaruhi Petrosyan for a 100+ years of prison sentence with no parole or worse, they should both go to the electric chair; then other barbaric and de-human husbands and mother-in-laws will think twice before committing violence or crime to their young women and harses.

This is terrible. A young woman loses her life in this horrible way leaving behind two children who will be forever deprived from her love.Just what is going on? I hope that the criminals will be brought to justice and punished . I can not understand the mind and moral of any so called husband and his mother. It breaks my heart to know that such people exist in our beloved Armenia. I very much hope that I don’t have to read any such news ever again! What a tragedy for this young mother’s family and loved ones. What a waste of a young life!

The animals who did that to her should be locked away and the key thrown into the sea! Shame ,shame and a million shame!

Lets also remember that the police departments turned deaf ears and deaf heads to what was going on in the Yanis Sarkisov’s household. The government must see to it that justice prevails for Zaruhi’s death. If Armenians and the government of Armenia truly believes in the sanctity of the Armenian home and family, then they should punish severely anyone who commits murder outside of the homes as well as inside of the homes. Therefore Domestic Violence must prevail at all costs in Armenia, so that women will not be subservient to men or be abused by men (any men; their spouses, their fathers, or any family member). We live in the 21st century, not in the 15th.
