STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–More than 1.1 million drams worth of industrial products were produced in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the first half of 1997 reported the Nagorno Karabakh Statistics Department Wednesday–an 8.9 % increase from the 94.3 million drams worth of products produced in the same period a year ago.
Production volume at a number of factories–including the electrotechnical plants in Stepanakert and Shushi and the industrial and dairy factories in Stepanakert–reported two to three-and-a-half-fold increases in production in the first six months of this year.
Between January and June–the average number of workers at industrial enterprises increased by 30% as compared with the same period last year. The number of workers in the private sector increased 7.2 times as well.
Labor productivity at state-run industrial enterprises was up 103.6 percent–thus allowing the absolute growth of commodity output to reach 35.2 million drams.
