
This year’s Navasartian Games kicked off on Saturday, May 12, 2012 with an official opening ceremony, followed by two all-star games.
The variety of sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, tennis, swimming, ping-pong, and chess, are organized by the Regional Athletic Council, which is comprised of the following members:

The Homenetmen Regional Executive liaison to the Council is Alec Araratian and the Council’s staff person is Nareg Medzachian.

With a total of 217 teams in different divisions (AAA-G) competing in basketball tournaments this year, basketball once again remains the top sport with the highest level of participating teams, a breakdown of which follows:

The Navasartian Games will be held every weekend at the following locations:
– Pasadena College, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena
– Birmingham High School, 17000 Haynes St., Van Nuys
– Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Chapter Center, 3347 San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles
Volleyball tournaments will begin the last weekend of June and will be held at the Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School (1615 N. Alexandria Ave., Los Angeles), as well as the Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Chapter Center.
Soccer games will begin on Sunday, June 17th at the Glendale Sports Complex located at 2200 Fern Lane in Glendale. On the same day, track and field games will begin for all age groups and divisions at Birmingham High School.
Swimming tournaments will begin on June 16th at Birmingham High School.
Tennis and ping pong tournaments will be held on July 3rd. Chess tournaments begin July 7th. These tournaments will all be held at Birmingham High School.
All championship games will culminate primarily at Birmingham High School between July 3-7, 2012, during which the Navasartian Festival will also be held featuring a classic car show, well-known singers and entertainment. (Further information regarding the festival will be published separately).
