Injury Puts Mkhitaryan out of Action

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (r) injured in Switzerland

DORTMUND, Germany (Associated Press)—Borussia Dortmund’s newly signed forward, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, will be out for four weeks after injuring his ankle in a friendly match.

The Bundesliga club says Mkhitaryan twisted his right ankle and partially tore a tendon shortly after scoring the third goal in Dortmund’s 4-1 win over FC Luzern in a friendly in Switzerland on Tuesday.

Mkhitaryan has scored in two of the three friendly matches he has played so far since joining Dortmund. The Armenia international completed his transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk last week and signed a four-year deal.

He was signed to replace Mario Goetze, who moved to Bayern Munich, which beat Dortmund in the Champions League final.

Mkhitaryan could miss the Bundesliga season-opener on August 10 against Augsburg as well as the German Supercup clash with FC Bayern on July 27, as Borussia Dortmund will have to do without the Armenian midfielder in the coming weeks.

Club doctor Dr. Markus Braun is hopeful that the 24-year-old will be fit in time for Dortmund’s first home game of the season against newcomers Eintracht Braunschweig on 18 August, however.

Told you not to go there. While I understand that it’s good to be owned by Germans rather than 2 Ukrainian oligarchs and an Armenian criminal, still…Germany? Really? :-/ nothing good can come out of it. Other than when you leave that place again.

While I understand your point, in this case it is very very missplaced. Mkhitaryan is anything but stupid or irrelevant. He is a very intelligent and pleasant young man, who has done nothing to lower th Armenian name (unlike a certain Kim K) and everything to improve it. He should be a source of pride for all of us, that our nation can produce such a humble and dedicated young man. A hard worker, a true professional, and a patriot.. Shame on you. What he does is much more than just kick a ball in a hole. He is the best PR anyone can ask for. Everybody who meets him loves him, the fans of all countries adore him, nobody has anything but praise for him. I’d rather have one Henrikh than a thousand ashots. What have you done in your sorry life that this promising 24 year old offends you so much?

      It’s the same thing Ashot.
Players put a ball in the field hole, oligarchs put a hole in the human hole.
