Language course participants enjoy a day in Yerevan

BY HASMIK HAROUTIUNIAN

LONDON—Paul is an American professional, who has been engaged to an Armenian girl from LA for couple of years. “I have been looking for an intensive course to learn Armenian, well, at least to learn the basics, so I can communicate with my future in-laws!,” wrote Paul in his email. He has been looking for a while, and finally he found our intensive course for adults on internet.

In July 2013, Armenian Language Course was held in Yerevan with participation of Armenian and non-Armenian adult learners like Paul.  Despite the hot weather, our experienced Armenian professors from Yerevan University, managed to inspire and encourage participants to learn and practice the Armenian language as much as possible during their 2 week stay. The participants were having three hour lessons of Eastern Armenian, as well as joining  daily visits to Yerevan museums and sightseeing tours outside the capital such as Garni-Geghard, Sardarabat, lake Sevan, Ashtarak, Echmiadzin, to mention the few.

“As we are teaching adults, most of whom are busy professionals, we need to be as flexible as we possibly can”, says Armine, doctor in linguistics and Armenian language tutor. Indeed, the course managed to accommodate a couple who wished their lessons fitted in the afternoons; another learner from Paris wanted to join the course….with her  small dog! Sans probleme, madame!

The reason of the success of Armenian Language Course is that the staff enjoys it as much as the foreign participants. Staff and learners visit enthusiastically concerts, opera, theatre that Yerevan offers every night, or just leisurely stroll to the singing fountains of Republic Square or gazing at eclectic sculptures on Cascade in the warm summer evenings.

“I want to thank you for the wonderful stay we had in Armenia. It was really a pleasure for me and Regine to visit museums, go to the opera with you and Gayane or to learn Armenian with Armine”, wrote Jean-Denis from Lyon, a complete beginner of Armenian language.

We are pleased to announce that due to the success of the course and the positive feedback we have received from course participants, we will be running 14-day intensive courses in September and October 2013 in Yerevan.

Our autumn Language Courses will be running again in a comfortable hotel with en-suite facilities, TV, A/C, restaurant, bar and conference rooms in the heart of Yerevan, close to the renowned Yerevan Opera House. The classes will be in small groups or one to one, with lots of attention to the needs of individual learners. The levels available are beginner, intermediary, advanced and advanced plus. During their stay in Yerevan, learners can join optional sightseeing tours as well as evening entertainment.

For the first time, we have plans to run Armenian Winter Course at Christmas 2013 with an opportunity to ski in the picturesque Olympic village in Tsachkadzor, details to follow on our website.
