YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The International Conference on Armenian Studies convened on Monday at Yerevan’s National Academy of Sciences–attracting Armenologists–scientists and academicians from the Republic of Armenia–and from more than twenty five countries–who will present papers and discuss approximately eighty topics–concentrating on history–philology–culture–and the Armenian Church.
Titled "Armenian Studies Today and Development Perspectives" the conference is organized jointly by the National Academy of Sciences and Yerevan State University.
President of the National Academy of Sciences Fadey Sarkisian–opened the conference by inviting His Holiness Karekin II–to address those assembled. "Truly–the creations and lives of our people who have lived at the skirts of Mount Ararat say many things about the ancient history of humanity. . .We are pleased that the field of Armenology today–studies the significance of faith in the fulfillment of science. . . We are pleased that the distortions of our history and biased assessmen’s are being re-examined. . ."
Under the patronage of Armenian President Robert Kocharian–the week-long event is sponsored by the President of the Union of Armenia’s of Russia Ara Abrahamian–the "George Ignatius" Fund–the National Fund of Science and Leading Technologies–and–His Holiness Karekin II.
The conference will run through Saturday–September 20
