YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–During the December 26 meeting with Armenia National Assembly Chairman Armen Khachatryan and Karabakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Naira Melkumyan introduced Arman Melikyan–the new Resident Representative of the Karabakh to Armenia.
According to the National AssemblyPublic Relations Department–issues regarding the settlement of the Karabakh conflict were discussed. The National AssemblyChairman told the Karabakh Minister of Foreign Affairs about discussions around the Karabakh problem both in the parliament and during his official visits. The issues of concretization of cooperation between Armenia and Karabakh were also discussed.
Naira Melkoumyan asked the Chairman of the National Assembly to keep the discussions of the issue in the center of his attention and use the possibilities of parliamentary diplomacy for spreading exact and unbiased information about the Karabakh problem also in the future.
The need for deepening interparliamentary ties and coordinating steps was mentioned. It was mentioned that the solution to the problem is possible only by means of peace talks–and the bellicose statemen’s of the Azeri side will be decisively repulsed if they outgrow from a political show into a real threat.
