LOS ANGELES–The Regional Executive of the Homenetmen Western USA awarded the title of "2001 Model Homenetmen Member" to Jasik Jarahian of the Glendale "Ararat" chapter.
Jarahian was born Jasik Boniatian in the northern Iranian city of Rashd. In 1955–Jasik–along with her family–moved to Tehran–where she became a scout of the Armenian Cultural Ararat Organization–and a member of the ARF "Alik" Youth Association.
At an early age–Jasik developed a love for education. She graduated from Tehran’s Goushesh Mariamian-Davitian Secondary School–where she studied the education field. She also majored in education at the Iranian State University–from where she received her Master’s degree. Over the course of her 23 years in Iran–Jasik held various high level positions with the English York Shire Insurance Company belonging to the Nahai brothers.
No matter how demanding her work schedule–Jasik was always involved with various programs aimed at helping the more unfortunate people in her neighborhood–as well as active participation with scouts.
At age 24–Jasik married Apik Jarahian–with whom she had daughter Bianca–who has followed in her mother’s footsteps–and is a dedicated member of the Glendale "Ararat" chapter of Homenetmen.
In 1984–after living through the Iranian Revolution–Jasik and her family settled permanently in Glendale where she immediately joined the local Homenetmen chapter. Upon moving to the US–Jasik entered the accounting field–and has worked for her brother’s (longtime Homenetmen member Kahren Beniasian) Group Services firm.
Jasik has been the general accountant of the Armenian Relief Society’s Western USA Regional Executive–a position she has served since 1991. She has been active in fundraising efforts for the Regional Executive and in organizing the annual Homenetmen Navasartian Games and the traditional Victory Ball.
