AKHALKALAK–Georgia (A-Info)–The newly-elected president of the "People’s Movement of Javakhk" assured the community that his organization must regain its previous role and become an influential organization in Javakhk and issues related to its population.
Movement president Norik Karapetian emphasized the importance of seeking autonomy for Javakhk–which he said would enable the region to make certain socio-economic decisions that would have beneficial effects for the population.
Karapetian underscored the importance of autonomy as a means for ensuring foreign investment in the region–citing current Georgian laws that do not create a healthy climate for investment–especially by Diaspora Armenia’s.
The Javakhk leader said that given the organization’s base as a people’s movement–he hoped that through dialogue with the community–their concerns can be addressed with Georgian authorities.
Karapetian also signaled that Movement members will actively take part in upcoming regional government elections in Georgia.
