YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Hye-Art cultural center is planning to hold the Nagorno Karabakh art festival in 2001 with the aim of presenting its art to the world–Karabakh’s Minister of Culture–Armen Sarkisian told an October 2 news conference.
The idea of holding such a festival was conceived and suggested by Armenian-Americans during Sarkisian’s visit to the US last year.
The festival will kick off in Karabakh’s second largest town of Shushi and will include theater–music–folk dance and applied arts events.
The other goal of the festival is to promote touristic development in Karabakh. Small enterprises will set up booths to sell art products.
The festival’s chief organizer and author of the project is an Armenian-American Naiyri Melkonian–who is also the permanent representative of the Karabakh Ministry of Culture in the US.
