YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The delegation from Nagorno-Karabakh is participating in the 5th forum of the Helsinki Citizens Assembly in the Azeri capital of Baku left the meeting hall to show their protest against the speech of the Head of the Resource Center on Problems of National Minorities and representative of the International Non-governmental Organization Links in Azerbaijan Nadir Kyamallatdinov. In particular–Kyamallatdinov apologized for Azerbaijan’s having granted territories to Armenia where an Armenian state was built and granting Zangezur to Armenia. He also offered apologies to the Armenian people for the "tolerance" of the Azerbaijan people–who–despite the "occupation of Azeri lands" and presence of a million refugees–agrees to peace talks.
The day before–representative of the Organization for the Liberation of Karabakh and former minister of defense of Azerbaijan Tajetdin Mekhtiyev issued an appeal to solve the Karabakh conflict with the fulfillment of a number of conditions. If the conditions are not fulfilled within 6-7 months–he called for solving the conflict militarily.
The delegation of Nagorno Karabakh made a statement expressing their resentment against the continuing anti-Armenia’s statemen’s. For three days the Karabakh conflict has been regarded from anti-Armenian rather than peace-making perspectives–starting with the speech by Azerbaijan’s vice-premier. It is pointed out in the statement that the arrival of the delegation from Nagorno-Karabakh is being used for the realization of filthy technologies.
The protest of the delegation was backed by a sweeping majority of the forum participants–including representatives of Azerbaijan.
The HCA Forum Secretariat expressed its deep regret over the incident. "We want to state that the goal of the conference is to set bridges between the conflicting sides–including between people of radical sentimen’s and different world outlooks," the Secretariat’s resolution reads. The Assembly’s Secretariat found similar statemen’s inadmissible and apologized for the incident.
Zhanna Krikorova spoke on behalf of the Nagorno-Karabakh delegation. She expressed gratitude to the forum for support. "Everyone is to blame in military conflicts and one should start purification with oneself," she underlined.
