STEPANAKERT (Armenpress)–Nagorno Karabakh Minister of Education and Science Hamlet Grigorian addressed an appeal to UNESCO and international humanitarian organizations–in which he called on them to draw their attention to the problems of the children of Nagorno Karabakh who required immediate attention.
The appeal says that "we have passed through all the ordeals of the war imposed on us by Azerbaijan–and now we have to overcome numerous problems of post-war rehabilitation related–in particular–to children’s education and comprehensive development."
It stresses that due to its isolation from the outer world and still existing blockade–Nagorno Karabakh has to bear the burden of war consequences by itself–as a result of which the children suffer most of all.
The minister emphasized that education and science must not be politicized–and the new generation–whether their residence territory was recognized or not–must be provided with equal guarantees of comprehensive development and social security.
Grigorian expressed hope that proceeding from the existing situation–UNESCO will support the rights of Nagorno Karabakh children–and a formula for the resolution of the existing problems would be found–which would allow to put an end to the discrimination and to create equal conditions for harmonious development of all children.
