STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–Plans for the first phase of the North-South Karabakh highway–for which a fundraising telethon was held on Thanksgiving Day organized by Armenia Fund Inc.–have been already been drawn and await presentation to Armenia Fund officials.
The first phase of the highway is a 22-kilometer stretch of road between Dashboulagh and Kitchan.
Representatives of the Hayastan All-Armenia Fund reported that by March 31 plans for the first 12 kilometers of the first stretch will be completed–while plans for the remaining 10 kilometers will be submitted by May.
The Fund representatives also said that immediately after the receipt of the plans–bids for construction will be accepted by construction companies.
The Thanksgiving Day telethon raised more than $5 million for the $25 million project. Construction is expected to begin in late 2000.
