STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–Nagorno-Karabakh President Arkady Ghoukassian met with the visiting secretary general and coordinator of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Switzerland–Toros Sagerian–Tuesday. Sagerian reported to the president about the activities and plans of the Armenian community of Switzerland–which–he said–is willing to render assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh. The two also discussed ways of using the community’s potential in implementing a number of social and economic programs in Karabakh.
President Ghoukassian presented the internal political situation in Karabakh and explained some social and economic issues. He briefly reported on government measures being taken to restore and build the economic complex and eliminate the consequences of war. Ghoukassian highlighted the importance of comprehensive Diasporan’support in building and strengthening the statehood of the young republic.
The sides also exchanged views regarding the prospects for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
