YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Representatives of the Turkish Civil Aviation Company are scheduled to arrive in Armenia Tuesday to sign a protocol on opening of the Gumri-Kars airline with the General Civil Aviation Department of Armenia.
The question of introduction of new international airlines was addressed at a meeting of civil aviation representatives of the Transcaucasus–Iran and Turkey held early this year in Yerevan. Those airlines will run on the Europe-Turkey-Armenia-Azerbaijan-Middle Asia and Europe-Georgia-Armenia-Iran routes and will become the shortest link to Europe with Eastern countries.
Chief of GCAD of Armenia Edward Pilosian said that after putting the aforementioned airline into operation Europe-Turkey-Armenia-Azerbaijan-Middle Asia route will be operated at full.
With the opening of the Gumri-Kars airline–a new direct route from Middle Asia to Turkey and further to Europe will be established. Until recently the flights by that route were operated via Georgia’s territory.
