The Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School held its 6th Annual Crab Feed on February 7 at the Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Fresno. As in past years, the dinner drew over 400 people who were treated to an all-you-can-eat fresh crab and pasta meal.
This year’s entertainment featured the Mo Fo Party Band. Led by John and Bill Clifton, the group is Fresno’s premier rhythm and blue band and regularly tours throughout California. Former City Councilman and current CKACS board member Tom Boyajian emceed the program and live auction.
A commemorative photo of the CKACS student body was presented to Dr. Jack Tookoian of the Berth and John Garabedian Foundation to honor its generous and long-standing support to the school.
Other local celebrities included KSEE sportscaster Alexan Balekian as well as Mark, Michelle, and Donnie Arax who were guest-servers for the event. Award-winning journalist Mark Arax, author of In My Father’s Name and The King of California, has written a new novel about his family history which will be published later this year. Michelle Arax is currently serving trustee for the Fresno Unified School district, while Donnie Arax has compiled a 63-38-1 record in the past nine seasons severing as head coach for the Bullard High School football team. Balekian also performed a live interview with Coach Arax for his weekend sports show
Proceeds from the Crab Feed will help offset the school’s general operating expenses.
